Understand how question customization works, what you can and can't do to customize a pre-defined question, and what it means for your results
Question Customization
Question customization "unlocks" any pre-defined questions so that you can:
- edit question text
- edit choice text
- add additional descriptive text
- add an image to the question text
- change applicable settings (randomize, multi vs. single select)
Questions will retain their general shape and constraints when customized, to minimize unintended consequences in results.
Example:
If you customize a 5-point scale question, the customized version will still require 5 choices, and won't be able to be randomized or made multi-select
If you need to change a question to a completely different type of question (e.g. 5-point scale to multi-select) you'll need to add it as a custom question.
Undoing Customization
Once you choose to customize a question, you cannot reset it back to the original / locked version of the question.
However, if you don't change anything it will behave the exact same as if you hadn't chosen to customize, and you can always search for the question in the library and re-add it if you'd like to include it in its original form for any reason.
Customization Effects on Results
Given the guardrails in place to keep question types the same even when customized, there shouldn't be significant impact to your results.
Highlight allows for a large amount of flexibility in how your results and integrated analyses are defined and run, making customization fairly risk-free.
