Project Review & Summary

Catch Configuration Issues Early and Submit with Confidence

Overview

Project Review uses Highlight AI to automatically analyze your project setup and survey configurations before you submit. It identifies potential issues — like conflicting settings, spelling errors, or broken survey logic — so you can fix them before they impact your research. When you're ready, the Project Summary page presents an AI-generated overview of your study along with key objectives, a cost breakdown, and any remaining issues, giving you a clear picture before you submit your project.

Accessing Project Review

Project Review is available during project setup. As you configure your project, you'll see an AI Review Banner appear below the setup stepper on each configuration page. The banner provides two key actions:

  • Check Setup: Click this button to trigger an AI-powered analysis of your entire project configuration, including all product surveys.
  • Issues: Click the Issues section on the right side of the banner to open a drawer showing any detected issues. A badge displays the current issue count.

While the review is running, the banner displays an animated message: "Highlight AI is analyzing your project details."

Once the review completes, you'll see a notification:

  • If issues are found: "X Issues have been found. Please Review."
  • If no issues are found: "No Issues Found."

What the AI Reviews

When you click Review Project, Highlight AI performs many analyses in parallel:

Project Configuration Review

The AI examines your entire project setup across all configuration sections:

  • Products — Product configuration, quantities, naming, and identifiers
  • Stimuli — Product blinding and labeling settings
  • Audience — Test groups, participant targeting, demographics, and sample sizes
  • Surveys — Survey setup and configuration
  • Instructions — Participant guidance and trial protocols
  • Handling — Product storage, allergen safety, and handling preferences
  • Shipping — Logistics type, shipping methods, and return requirements
  • Timeline — Start and end dates, data collection windows

The project review looks for conflicting settings across these sections, spelling errors in user-facing text (like product names and descriptions), and logical inconsistencies between configured values.

Survey Review

Alongside the project review, the AI also reviews all product surveys in your project. The survey review analyzes the actual survey structure and logic to find:

  • Broken survey flow — Paths where participants could get stuck or skip critical questions
  • Cross-survey inconsistencies — Structural differences between product surveys that would affect comparison validity
  • Logic errors — Issues with skip logic, triggers, or completion paths that could prevent participants from finishing

Survey issues appear in the Issues drawer with the survey name displayed, so you know exactly which survey needs attention.

Reviewing Issues

Click Issues on the banner to open the Issues drawer from the right side of the screen. The drawer displays all detected issues from both the project configuration review and the survey review in a single, unified list.

Each issue card includes:

  • Title — A clear, concise description of the problem
  • Category badges — Yellow badges showing which setup section the issue relates to (e.g., Products, Audience, Shipping). Survey-related issues display a "Survey" badge along with the specific survey name.
  • Description — A plain-language explanation of what's wrong and why it matters
  • Recommendation — Specific guidance on how to fix the issue
  • Make Changes — Click to close the drawer and navigate to the relevant setup section to address the issue
  • Dismiss — Remove the issue from your view if it's not relevant

You can search through issues using the search bar at the top of the drawer to quickly find specific problems.

When no issues are found, the drawer displays a success message: "Success. No Issues Found!" with a reminder to rerun the review if you make further changes.

Tip: Run the review after making significant changes to your project configuration. Each time you click Check Setup, the AI re-analyzes your entire setup with the latest data.

Project Summary Page

Once all setup steps are complete, a Summary step appears as the final step in your project setup stepper. Navigating to this step automatically triggers Highlight AI to generate a comprehensive project summary.

Generating Your Summary

When you first visit the Summary page, you'll see an animated loading screen with the message: "Highlight AI is generating your project summary. Please wait. This may take a few minutes." The AI analyzes your complete project configuration to create a tailored summary.

Summary Layout

The Project Summary page is organized into three sections:

AI-Generated Summary

At the top of the page, a prominently displayed summary section includes:

  • Project Summary — A two-paragraph overview describing what your product research study will accomplish. The first paragraph covers the study purpose and what participants will evaluate. The second paragraph explains how participants will provide feedback and what insights will be gathered.
  • Key Objectives — Each objective has a short title and brief description focused on business outcomes and research goals.

Cost Summary and Issues

Below the summary, a two-column layout displays:

  • Cost Summary (left column) — A breakdown of the estimated project cost
  • Issues (right column) — A compact view of any remaining issues from the AI review, with category badges and descriptions. If no issues remain, a success message confirms your setup is clean.

Submit Project

At the bottom of the page, the Submit Project button becomes available once all setup steps have been completed. Clicking it opens a confirmation dialog explaining that:

  • Your project will be locked from further editing
  • Highlight's system will run a quality check
  • You'll be notified either to resubmit (if changes are needed) or when your project is approved and ready to go

You must check the I understand checkbox before confirming submission.

Tip: Review the AI-generated summary and objectives to ensure they accurately reflect your research goals. If anything looks off, go back to your setup steps to make adjustments, then return to the Summary page to regenerate the summary.
