Project Review & Summary

Catch Configuration Issues Early and Submit with Confidence

Overview

AI Project Review uses Highlight AI to automatically analyze your project setup and survey configurations before you submit. It identifies potential issues — like conflicting settings, spelling errors, or broken survey logic — so you can fix them before they impact your research. When you're ready, the Project Summary page presents an AI-generated overview of your study along with key objectives, any remaining issues, and optional add-on services, giving you a clear picture before you submit your project.

Accessing AI Project Review

AI Project Review is available during project setup. As you configure your project, you'll see an AI Review Banner appear below the setup stepper on each configuration page. The banner provides:

  • Check Setup — Click this button to trigger an AI-powered analysis of your entire project configuration, including all product surveys.
  • Issues — Click to view any detected issues in a dropdown. A badge displays the current issue count.

While the review is running, the banner displays an animated message: "Highlight AI is analyzing your project details."

The banner may also show quick-access buttons for Timeline and Cost Summary depending on your project configuration, so you can review key details without leaving the page.

What the AI Reviews

When you click Check Setup, Highlight AI performs two analyses in parallel:

Project configuration review

The AI examines your entire project setup across all configuration sections:

  • Products — Product configuration, quantities, naming, and identifiers
  • Stimuli — Product blinding and labeling settings
  • Audience — Test groups, participant targeting, demographics, and sample sizes
  • Surveys — Survey setup and configuration
  • Instructions — Participant guidance and trial protocols
  • Handling — Product storage, allergen safety, and handling preferences
  • Shipping — Logistics type, shipping methods, and return requirements
  • Timeline — Start and end dates, data collection windows

The project review looks for conflicting settings across these sections, spelling errors in user-facing text (like product names and descriptions), and logical inconsistencies between configured values.

Survey review

Alongside the project review, the AI also reviews all product surveys in your project. The survey review analyzes the actual survey structure and logic to find:

  • Broken survey flow — Paths where participants could get stuck or skip critical questions
  • Cross-survey inconsistencies — Structural differences between product surveys that would affect comparison validity
  • Logic errors — Issues with skip logic, triggers, or completion paths that could prevent participants from finishing

Survey issues are labeled with the survey name, so you know exactly which survey needs attention.

Hard-to-reach audience detection

If your audience configuration may be difficult to recruit for, a Hard To Reach warning is automatically added to your issues list as a critical issue. This warning suggests broadening your audience filters or decreasing the number of participants to improve feasibility. When this warning is present, you'll need to return to the Audience step and adjust your configuration before you can submit your project.

Reviewing issues

Click Issues on the banner to view all detected issues from both the project configuration review and the survey review. You can search through issues to quickly find specific problems.

Each issue includes:

  • Title — A clear, concise description of the problem
  • Category badges — Badges showing which setup section the issue relates to (e.g., Products, Audience, Shipping). Survey-related issues also display the specific survey name.
  • Description — A plain-language explanation of what's wrong and why it matters
  • Recommendation — Specific guidance on how to fix the issue

When no issues are found, you'll see a success message: "Success. No Issues Found!"

Tip: Run the review after making significant changes to your project configuration. Each time you click Check Setup, the AI re-analyzes your entire setup with the latest data.

Project Summary page

Once all setup steps are complete, a Summary step appears as the final step in your project setup stepper. Navigating to this step automatically triggers Highlight AI to generate a comprehensive project summary.

Generating your summary

When you first visit the Summary page, you'll see an animated loading screen while the AI analyzes your complete project configuration. This may take a few seconds.

What you'll see

The Project Summary page walks you through everything about your project before you submit:

  • Project Summary — An AI-generated overview describing what your product research study will accomplish, covering the study purpose, how participants will provide feedback, and what insights will be gathered.
  • Project Objectives — Key research objectives focused on business outcomes and research goals. If you provided research objectives during project setup through the AI-assisted creation flow.
  • Timeline — A summary of your project timeline and key dates.
  • Instructions — A summary of participant instructions. This section only appears for projects that involve physical product shipments.
  • Issues — Any remaining issues from the AI review, including critical warnings like hard-to-reach audience alerts. If no issues remain, a success message confirms your setup is clean.

Project add-ons

Every project includes full access to Highlight's Insights suite — interactive advanced analysis tools with AI summaries, scorecards, and instant reports built in. If you need something more tailored, the Summary page lets you browse optional reporting and research services.

Reporting options include:

  • Fully Custom Analysis or Report
  • Van Westendorp Analysis
  • Additional Instant Report Access
  • Topline Report
  • MaxDiff + TURF Excel Simulator
  • MaxDiff + TURF PPT and Simulator Package
  • Driver Analysis
  • Custom Penalty Analysis
  • Typing Tool for Capture

Services include consulting hours with Highlight's research team for guidance on methodology, survey design, and results interpretation.

Cost summary

If cost estimation is available for your project, a Cost Summary appears alongside the Summary page showing a breakdown of the estimated project cost.

Submitting your project

At the bottom of the page, the Submit Project button becomes available once all setup steps have been completed and there are no critical issues blocking submission. Clicking it opens a confirmation dialog explaining that:

  • Your project will be locked from further editing
  • Highlight's system will run a quality check
  • You'll be notified either to resubmit (if changes are needed) or when your project is approved and ready to go

You must check the I understand checkbox before confirming submission.

Tip: Review the AI-generated summary and objectives to ensure they accurately reflect your research goals. If anything looks off, go back to your setup steps to make adjustments, then return to the Summary page to regenerate the summary.
