Exploring Survey Results in Insights
The Explore page in Insights lets you view and analyze survey results as they come in. With dynamic visuals like bar charts, word clouds, and ranking tables, you can compare products, custom segment responses, and export your findings, all in real time. This article walks you through everything you need to know to make the most of Explore.
Viewing Your Survey Results
Explore displays results for each survey question with visuals tailored to the question type. If you’re running product surveys, Insights automatically compares your products side by side. Here’s what you’ll see:
- Scale & Multiple Choice Questions: Presented as bar charts.
- Open-Ended: Shown as word clouds with sentiment analysis.
- Ranking: Displayed as ordered lists with average rankings per product.
Customizing Bar Charts
For Opinion Scale and Multiple Choice questions, bar charts give you flexibility to adjust the view:
- Switch between horizontal and vertical layouts.
- Toggle between response count (total answers) or percentage (proportion of answers).
- Sort the data by:
- Survey order: As it appeared in the survey.
- Alphabetical order: By answer choice.
- Count: From highest to lowest responses.
Tip: Check the legend at the top of each chart to see the number of responses per product for that question.
Analyzing Open-Ended Responses
Open-ended responses transform into a word cloud for quick insights. Here’s how it works:
- Responses are lemmatized (e.g., "running" becomes "run") and counted by frequency.
- Larger words in the cloud appear more often and sit closer to the center.
- Open the accordion below the word cloud to see all full responses. Each one comes with a sentiment label: Positive, Negative, Neutral, or Mixed.
Tip: Use sentiment to spot trends in customer feedback fast.
Comparing Products and Segments
Narrow down your results with the Product Selector and Segment Selector:
- Product Selector: Choose from a dropdown of all Products and Product Groups.
- Need a new Product Group? Click the link below the dropdown or head to the Product Groups tab.
- Segment Selector: Pick from existing Segments, like demographics or survey questions.
- Create new Segments via the link below the dropdown or the Segments tab.
The product legend shows your selected Products and Segments with consistent colors across all visuals for easy tracking.
Exporting Your Results
Ready to share your findings? Export the Explore page as a PDF:
- Click the Export button.
- Use your browser’s print dialog to tweak margins, page size, or other settings.
